Yeimi & Derryck's Santa Cruz Courthouse Wedding | Santa Cruz Wedding Photographer
Yeimi and Derryck's Santa Cruz courthouse wedding was full of color, family, and good food. It was one of those intimate weddings that reminds me why I love photographing smaller celebrations. Nothing overly complicated, just a beautiful day surrounded by the people who matter most. They chose to get married at the Santa Cruz County courthouse, right in the heart of Santa Cruz. Their friends showed up in colorful dresses, carrying white parasols that added such a fun and beautiful touch to the day. I loved the contrast of all those colors against the courthouse surroundings. These are the kinds of weddings I really enjoy. Relaxed, personal, and full of moments that happen naturally.
A Santa Cruz Courthouse Wedding Surrounded by Family and Friends
One of my favorite things about courthouse weddings is how simple they can be. You don't need a huge venue or an elaborate timeline to make the day meaningful.
Yeimi and Derryck kept their celebration intimate, with family and friends there to share the experience. The white parasols and colorful dresses gave everything a playful, almost garden-party feeling. There's something really nice about photographing a wedding where everyone can just enjoy being together. The smaller setting gives me room to capture the little interactions, the smiles, and everything happening between the more traditional wedding moments.
Wedding Reception at Sala Thai in Santa Cruz
After their courthouse ceremony, the celebration continued at Sala Thai in Santa Cruz. I love when couples choose a local restaurant for their wedding reception. It keeps everything casual and gives everyone a chance to sit together, share a meal, and celebrate without the pressure of a big formal reception. And the food at Sala Thai was so good! After the reception, we took family portraits, making sure Yeimi and Derryck had photographs with the people who came to celebrate with them. Family photos are always an important part of a wedding day, even when the celebration is small. It's these simple moments that make courthouse weddings so memorable.
Planning a Santa Cruz Courthouse Wedding
If you're considering getting married at the Santa Cruz County courthouse, it's a wonderful option for an intimate wedding. Santa Cruz has so much to offer, from its downtown restaurants to beautiful coastal locations for portraits. You can keep your day simple with a civil ceremony and a small reception, or plan extra time for photographs around town. I always recommend leaving a little flexibility in your timeline. Courthouse weddings don't need to feel rushed, and even a short photography session can give you a beautiful collection of images. Whether you're planning a wedding with just a few guests or a slightly larger gathering, the most important thing is creating a day that feels like you.
