Pilar and Thomas's elopement along the Big Sur coast was nothing short of magical. We chose Soberanes Point in Garrapata State Park — my favorite stretch of this coastline, with the bluffs facing north and the whole coast opening up in front of you.Big Sur is one of the most breathtaking and peaceful places to elope in California, and Soberanes Point never disappoints. We planned the whole thing together in the weeks before where they'd stand, where I'd wait, and how the day would flow so it stayed relaxed. Then we just let Big Sur do the rest: cliffs, waves, and golden light for hours.
Thomas and Pilar eloped in July, and summer worked beautifully warm days, long golden evenings, and plenty of light for their cliff-top ceremony. If you'd rather have fewer crowds and slightly softer weather, spring and fall are also wonderful here, with clear coastal views and golden light most of the day. For the ceremony I recommend Brian from Weddings in Monterey, he's performed hundreds of Big Sur weddings and brings a calm, personal touch to every elopement.
