Flor + Tyler | A Redwood Elopement at Glen Oaks Big Sur
When Flor reached out about eloping with Tyler, I was thrilled, especially when I heard they were flying in from Chicago to do it. Glen Oaks Big Sur, tucked into the redwoods along the coast, is one of my favorite places to photograph, and it made the perfect setting for their day. The redwoods here are something else. Towering, quiet, and soft even in harsh light you can stand under them and feel the whole day slow down. Between the trees, the river, and the Big Sur coastline just minutes away, we never ran out of spots to explore for photos. And that's what I love most about eloping in Big Sur: the day stays simple. No huge guest list, no tight timeline just the two of you, the landscape, and the people you choose to have there. Flor and Tyler's celebration was relaxed from start to finish, and you can see it in every photo.
The Best Time of Year to Elope in Big Sur
I get this question from almost every couple, so here's the honest answer after years of shooting here: there's no bad month, but each season looks different.
Spring (March–May) — Wildflowers, green hills, and mild temperatures. My pick if you want color and fewer crowds.
Summer (June–August) — Warm and sunny with long golden evenings, but it's also the busiest season on the coast.
Fall (September–November) — Crisp, clear days and some of the best light of the year. A personal favorite.
Winter (December–February) — Moody skies, misty coastal views, and a quiet, intimate feel. Perfect for dramatic photos.
Whichever month you choose, plan your ceremony around the light,late afternoon into sunset and the photos will take care of themselves.
