Alejandro & Melisa | Sunset Proposal at Carmel Beach
Alejandro and Melisa came all the way from Monterrey, Mexico to visit California, but little did Melisa know that Alejandro had something very special planned for their trip.
Before the proposal, Alejandro shared his location with me and we carefully planned everything from where to propose to the timing. I figured out exactly where they would be, where I would be waiting, and how we could make the moment feel completely natural. The anticipation of waiting for them to arrive and knowing what was about to happen was such an exciting part of the experience.
They arrived at Carmel Beach just as the sun was beginning to set, giving us the most beautiful golden light along the California coast. Melisa had absolutely no idea what was coming. I was belnding in as a tourist with my tote bag nearby them, then Alejandro finally got down on one knee, her reaction said everything. It was the biggest surprise, and you can see it all over her face in the photos. The shock, the happiness, the excitement, and all of the emotions happening at once made the moment so special to photograph. Those genuine reactions are exactly what I love capturing proposal at the carmel beach, the moments you simply can’t plan or recreate.
After she said yes, we spent some time walking around Carmel Beach and taking photos together as the sun continued to set. Alejandro and Melisa were so chill, down-to-earth, and fun to be around that the entire session felt effortless. There was so much happiness and love between them, I had such a good time documenting the beginning of this new chapter in their lives. From secretly planning the proposal with Alejandro to waiting for that exact moment on the beach, everything worked out better than we could have imagined.
I’m so glad I was able to capture this sunset proposal at Carmel Beach for them. Knowing that they’ll be able to look back at these photographs and relive all of those emotions makes moments like this incredibly special to me.
